H-Beam is known for its theatical shows.

Jane gets an encore
May 10, 2008

To put it mildly, psychedelic funk-rockers H-Beam were not pleased when the plug was pulled on their set at last month's Rites of Spring festival on the campus of Vanderbilt University. The band even acknowledged that one of its members threw a "tantrum" and publicly apologized to the promoters.

Don't get the wrong idea, though. H-Beam wasn't going prima donna on anyone. They simply were upset that they would not be allowed to perform the finale of their half-hour rock opera, Jane. To correct that, the band has scheduled an appearance at the Exit/In in Nashville on May 24.

H-Beam describes Jane as the story of "a girl who finds out who she really is ... a lesbian." In addition to the band, The Rites of Spring show included a cast performing as the individual charaters featured in the rock opera. For the May 24 performance, H-Beam promises the "full extended version." The Running are also on the night's bill.
