BASSIST VICTOR WOOTEN ALBUM, BOOK SET FOR SIMULTANEOUS RELEASE
Electric bass virtuoso Victor Wooten is set to simultaneously release a new full-length record, Palmystery, as well as his first novel, The Music Lesson, on April 1. Both the record and the book revolve around the themes of spirituality and mysticism.
Palmystery will be the bass ace's first release for the Cleveland-based Heads Up International label and features a number of high-profile guests, including guitarists Mike Stern and Keb' Mo', in addition to his longtime collaborator, drummer J.D. Blair. The album features a range of styles, including jazz, funk, soul, gospel, and world music.
Wooten's novel, The Music Lesson, will be released through Berkley Trade Paperback, a subsidiary of The Penguin Group USA. The book tells the story of a struggling young musician who after being visited by a mysterious, seemingly mystic music teacher, embarks on a spiritual journey of higher education in both music and life.
